JDRF

JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D.  Jennifer sits on the Board of Directors of the Central Chapter of the JDRF. http://centraljersey.jdrf.org/

Omnipod

With the OmniPod’s advanced insulin pump technology, you can sleep in, eat, exercise and just live your life more easily. So you’re no longer held back by your insulin schedule or tethered by a pump with tubing. The Pod holds and delivers your insulin. The PDM (Personal Diabetes Manager) wirelessly programs your personalized insulin delivery, calculates suggested doses and insulin on board, and has a convenient, built-in FreeStyle® blood glucose meter. It really is that simple. We have been using the Omnipod with our boy for almost a year now with good success.

dexcom-g4-platinum-family1

Dexcom is the maker of the G4 Platinum Continuous Glucose Monitoring System.  The system has a 20′ range from the sensor, which is worn on the body on the abdomen, and now communicates with a recently FDA approved unit called Dexcom Share.  Dexcom Share can upload the CGM data to the cloud to keep track of data and interface with iPhones.  This is one of the many CGM’s on the market, but is the one that we have ordered and on which we will be providing our feedback as soon as we have learned more about it.
