Our names are Tristram and Jennifer Collins. We are the parents of a boy that was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of three. Today he is a healthy, active seven year old and we have established a routine that works. Our A1C numbers are good, we have moved on from the pen to an omnipod and although we continue to realize that care for a type 1 diabetic child is as much art as it is science, we thought that it was important that we share our experiences and open up a place where other parents could share their stories, ask questions and where we can all learn from each other.
Jennifer is on the Board of Directors of the Central Jersey Chapter of the JDRF, which allows us to channel our dedication to helping find a cure for T1D through an incredible organization. We lead a team each year for the JDRF Walk called Team Whatever! We recently raised over $15,000 in the 2014 walk and had over 50 participants on our team. We look forward to beating those numbers in 2015!
